Tip
This is a variation on the original 'magic bean cake', I just wanted to reduce the calories and make it sugar free. One piece of cake works out to be approximately 120 calories and full of goodness. This cake is suitable for freezing. Hope you enjoy!

I have also made by replacing butter with oil - I think I only added 100ml
Great chocolate cake! I added 150g of butter at step one and an extra date instead of the goji berries. Will reduce cacao next time as little bitter. I used butter beans. I removed from oven and removed from pan and place on baking paper on tray with about 150g of dark choc bits on top and returned to off oven until bits soft enough to spreadmas icing. Maybe not as healthy after that...
Yummo..... Sharing this recipe with the other ladies at my work place.
Please people, understand that dates, berries and maple syrup are all sugar! I find this lazy labelling of refined sugar free as sugar free really frustrating, as I need Fructose Friendly recipes with low sugar and this recipe is off the scale for being high in fructose. I end up having to read hundreds of 'sugar free' recipes to find 3 or 4 that actually are sugar free.
There is no fat component in this recipe, which explains the comments about it being dry. Has anyone experimented with using some of the oil or butter amount from the original recipe?
Hi, has anyone followed this recipe yet? I'm unclear as to when to add the maple syrup ... I'm a new Thermomix user So any advice would be helpful?
Thanks
Oh no. I missed the maple syrup after reading the comments after I made the cake. Just wondering what ganach u used
This did not work for me. Considering this had a heap of eggs, this was the driest cake I have ever made, it ended up in the bin.
ps. the maple syrup is not in your instructions.
Thanks
Tracy
Hi there
i love your tweaks to my recipe, it's always good to put a personal stamp on things but would you mind removing my photo and using one of your own? Much appreciated. Sarah Wong, the magic bean cake original. www.clevercook.net.au

Thanks for adjusting the original recipe Kyle - I'm new 2 thermo world but am struggling with the sugar in a lot of recipes.
