Recipe's preparation

    Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a bundt tin (Ø 22-24 cm) with butter and dust with flour, and set aside.
  2. Put the butter in the mixing bowl, add 250 g sugar, vanilla paste, salt, eggs, flour, baking powder and 40 g milk, mix with a spatula 40 sec/at speed 5. Transfer half of the mixture into the prepared cake tin, leaving the rest in the mixing bowl.
  3. Add the cocoa, the remaining 30 g sugar and the remaining 30 g milk to the mixing bowl, blend 5 s/speed 5. Scrape the ingredients from the sides with a spatula into the bottom of the mixing bowl, and mix again 5 s/speed 5. Transfer the cocoa mixture into the bundt cake tin, forming a second layer. For a marbled effect, mix both layers with a fork.
  4. Bake for 50-60 minutes (180°C). Leave in the tin for approx 15 min before transferring to a plate, then leave to cool completely.
  5. Serve the marbled babka cut into pieces.

Tip

The marbled babka can be dusted with icing sugar or decorated with chocolate icing.
It is important that the butter is very soft. If the butter is chilled or hard, put the butter in a mixing bowl, add the sugar, salt and eggs, and mix for 1 min at speed 5, then add flour, baking powder and milk, mix 15 sec/speed 6 and continue according to the recipe.
You can prepare the cake according to your own ideas, using this recipe as a guide.
The cocoa mass can be flavoured with ½ teaspoon of rum essence or 20 g of rum. If using rum, reduce the amount of milk to 10 g in step 3.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
