I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

  1. It is VERY Important to add ingredients in the following order as the bowl will be very full. In order for it to work it has to be done this way.

  2. Put Butterfly in

  3. Add 320 grams of Hot Tap Water

  4. Add 360 grams of cubed Butter

  5. Add 600 grams of Sugar

  6. Add 440 grams of Milk Powder

  7. Mix for 12 mins 90 degrees Speed 4

Do not put MC on instead put basket on top to catch spatters.

Tip

The condensed milk will thicken considerably as it cools. If you need to use it straight away cook it longer to the thickness you require.

The milk will be a darker caramely colour if you use raw sugar as seen in the picture.

I use a soft silicon spatula to get more of the condensed milk out of the bowl.

If you forget to put the butterfly in like I often do, just mix all the ingredients for a few seconds then add the butterfly.

Will last up to 4 weeks in a sealed container in the fridge.

I have just made it now- I will see how thick it is on cooling but at this stage I didn't use hot water (I like mine filtered), I wasn't careful about adding ingredients ( no where near full) , I didn't use the butterfly or basket on top (something else to wash) ... and I heard it thicken with 3 minutes left (6mins of cooking) .

    I'm happy so far!

Love this recipe! Soo easy! I won't be buying condensed milk again. I only use 300gm sugar and it turns out fine. Kids don't notice the difference between store brought and this recipe. It's a winner in this family. Was runny when removed from thermie but defintely thickens on cooling.

OK this is more like it! Based on the comments, I shall give this recipe a go at the weekend. Others did not have such favourable reviews and one suggested cooking for 2 hours!

I'll come back and give my star rating once completed

    Simple ingredients......amazing results
