Recipe's preparation

    Method
  1. Add the 60g sugar and the cinnamon for the coating and mill 3 seconds speed 10. Set aside in a small bowl.

  2. Add the milk and heat 37 degrees for 1 minute 30 seconds.

  3. Sprinkle the yeast and a teaspoon of the sugar over the milk. Leave with lid on for 10-15 minutes until frothy.

  4. Melt butter (microwave or stovetop). Add butter, remainder of sugar, flour and egg. Blend 5 seconds speed 5.

  5. Using dough function, knead 5 minutes.

  6. Turn out dough on mat or lightly oiled benchtop and divide into 12 equal portions. I found it worked out around 37g per portion. Lightly grease donut moulds/pans.

  7. Roll out portions into a long enough string to fit in your donut mould. Pinch the ends together to form a circle inside the mould.

  8. Cover with a tea towel and leave in a warm place for around an hour or until the donuts have doubled in size.

  9. When almost ready, preheat oven to 180c/350f (or 160c fan forced).

  10. Remove tea towel and bake for 12-15 minutes. Check at 12 minutes (better not to be overcooked). When ready, they should be golden and sound hollow when tapped. Turn out onto a rack and do the sugar coating while still hot.

  11. For sugar coating, melt butter and brush on to the top of the donuts. Place the milled sugar/cinnamon in a large bowl. Dip the butter side of the donut in, swish it round a bit, and place sugar side down on a rack. When all coated on one side, brush the other side and repeat.

  12. Serve immediately, if possible. Good dipped in hot chocolate.

Tip

Healthier than deep fried donuts. Grab one before the kids eat them all.

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
