Hi i' ve had a tm31 since 2009 and just upgraded to the TM5 , have to say I ❤️ It doesnt bounce around so much on the bench when kneeding, the noise it makes when its finished is much more pleasing to the ear !! I like the way the lid locks when you just put it on the top of the bowl . Like the recipe chip ..... Saves looking at the book Essentially the machine is the same ... Just minor things .... But love it

I am also in a quandary Archangel but mine is whether to buy the TM5 as I already have the TM31. Thinking of you and if I were in your position I would probably buy a new TM5 rather than an unknown second hand TM31. You would not really be sure what the 31's history was. Has it been worked to death in a restaurant or has it been twice on the second hand market or heaven forbid, has it got a fault. Too many ifs for me.

My 31 on the other hand has been kindly used only by me and has no issues and is a faultless friend. Its just that I fancy a TM5. I have decided to get me a demo which maybe will make me decide.

Just in response to the warranty worry - as of Jan 1 this year the ACL (Australian Consumer Law) came into affect. Check this site: http://www.accc.gov.au/business/treating-customers-fairly/warranties/war...

Also,  I have the TM5 and I love it. My sister has the TM31 and I've used hers, and they are basically the same machine. I think time will tell if it is as robust as it claims (given the screen and mechanical arms I can see more going wrong too). Best of luck in your decision. Remember that even if you do buy a Thermie second hand, the ACL should cover you. Just check the site to see if it only relates to products originally purchased after Jan 1.

I have a 31 (only for a few months) but have used the 5 as well. They really are still the same machine but the 5 obviously has a bit more going on. Honestly I'd be happy with either. Being such a new machine no one can really answer about lifespan and lengevity of the new technology. They are covered by warranty so you wouldn't have any repair costs until your warranty ends but even then I can't see them being much more than what the 31 is in terms of repairs.

If it was me I'd buy a 5. At least buying the new machine instead of a second hand 31 you are covered by that warranty

Hi , I was the same, but bit the bulet and just bought the TM5 it's been 4 weeks and might have another 4 to go before I get it, getting a tad anxious

Hi Everyone

I was hoping for some honest feedback from those people who have the TM5. I have some reservations regarding the new technology and wanted to do my research thoroughly before commiting to buy. I have concerns about the longevity of the touch screen and the robotic arms. The TM31 looks like it could go on forever, but just not sure about the TM5. I had my heart set on the TM31 and was all set to buy it... in fact I was one pay day away from doing so, until Vorverk removed them from sale. I am not happy about this, but let's leave this for another time. I really, really want a Thermomix and I am ready to buy... just not sure if I should buy the TM31 second hand or whether I am just over thinking this whole thing and should bite the bullet and buy the TM5. I have no doubt this new model has been researched and tested, but just not sure about it's life span. It would be handy to know repair costs if anything does go wrong.

Thank you for letting my get my thoughts out and I value your thoughts and opinons.
