Forum steaming
Hi ana.clayton
There can be varying factors as to why your vegetables haven't cooked in the time. Yes 35 minutes should have been sufficent time but it could also depened on the following:
- who much and the size you cut vetegables
- what type of vegetables used
- is the steam getting through to the vegetables
A way to think about the layering is to go from hard to light, possibly putting your harder root vegetables in the steaming basket then layering your chicken in the Varoma ending with your lighter vegetables in the Varoma tray, rembering these will need less time to cook than your root vegetables.
Kind Regards
I made some chicken and I used the Varoma to steam some vegetables. The cooking time was 20 min at Varoma temperature but chicken was not very well cooked and vegetables were still very hard. Then I cooked the chicken for more 15 min and after all this time vegetables were still quite hard.
I'd think that 35 min would be more than enough to steam the vegetables. Is the anything else I can do to improve the Varoma performance?
Hi Barbatt,
If you are steaming vegetables in the Varoma tray then you use the Varoma setting.
If you are cooking vegetables in the simmering basket in the mixing bowl then 120°C for TM5.
Kind regards,
what temperature do I use for just steaming veges in the basket?
