Hi,

maybe you cut spuds too small and then they cook quicker hence became overcooked .Just a thought

Hi again

I always use Royal Blue potatoes and they work perfectly.  Sounds like you actually over cooked them if they were glue before you pureed them.  When using the TM you program the time as the recipe states as it takes into consideration the time it takes to get up to temperature.  So count the time from when it starts.  You could actually try cooking them for the 20 mins and check the consistency then just do another 5 if you need to.

Hope that helps, Fiona Smile

Puzzled Puzzled  hmmm thanks for your comment but I did use all milk and cooked it for the full time specified, in fact it had turned to glue even before I added the butter so there was no way to rescue it. Should I be stirring it on reverse maybe? Or maybe the type of potato. I used Pontiac and no cheese. Do you count the time from when it starts or from when it reaches temp. I left it a couple of minutes extra just in case.

Hi Panoukla

I always recommend to my client a couple of things that help with the mash.

- Always use all milk (rather than milk and water) when cooking the potatoes and cook them for 25 minutes so they are well cooked.

- Insert your butterfly, add butter and salt if you like and whip them on speed 3-4 for 15 seconds, then taste them.  Do them for another 5 seconds if necessary I find 15 seconds is long enough and that whipping them for too long the become gluey.

Also I leave the chees out but that is personal preference.

I hope that helps and your next batch is great.

:~Ihi there, I made mashed potato last night from the edc cookbook page 83 and unfortunately it was a disaster, even though I followed it to the letter. It turned out like white glue and I had to toss it out. I also made the mistake  of thinking I could steam veges in the varoma but was able to rescue them by throwing into a saucepan. I was also annoyed that the potato had started to burn on the bottom. What did I do wrong? Next time I think I will steam them or put in the basket.
