I have done the custard as described in EDC with the following adaptation for a Vegan demo

Milk was replaced with almond milk

and egg was replaced with Macro Hard tofu from Woolworths

believe i used around 70g 

I have been told tofu makes a pretty neat egg replacement in most recipes. Also as a very scepticle person even I would of been hard pressed to tell the difference between Vegan and standard version.

Yes - this is the first custard I ever made and its always a success.  Acutally I like it much better than the thermomix one.

Mix 1/4C sugar and 1/4C cornflour thoroughly.

Stir in 2C milk and 1tsp vanilla.  Add 2 Tbsp butter.

Follow basic instructions for themomix custard as this is not a thermi recipe.  Sorry it's a while since I made it in thermi and can't remember exactly what I did.  Cook it until it's the thickness you like - the longer you cook it obviously the thicker it will get.

You can use brown sugar for 'caramel custard'.

This simple recipe is from an old Alison Holst microwave book and in my opinion is delicious.  Hope you enjoy Love

PS can easily be halved if you only want a small quantity.


Hi everyone, i was just wondering if there is any eggfree custard recipes that aren't chocolate? has anyone tried one? or do you think i is possible to just leave the chocolate out? maybe substitute banana? if yes how would you cook it?
