I'm about to order my very own Thermie after months & months of nagging my poor hubby. He finally gave in & gave me a picture of one for Xmas & told me to just shut up & order one  :D But after reading this thread I'm worried about bits cracking....just wonder if this would be enough to put anyone off investing in one.

Just not sure my hubby would let me live it down if anything on it broke.....

I think it is important to remember that Thermomix is making this change because they want what is absolute best for all their customers.  They are comitted, worldwide, to be the best!

The original MC's and Varoma lids were perfectly food safe and exceeded stringent standards.  However, Thermomix wanted to further improve their product.  They are comitted to keep replacing these MC's until they have a permanent, working solution.

Hi chubbymonkey

We will PM you.

I have had my Thermomix for just one week and the MC is so badly cracked.  I thought I would have got the new batch of these with my machine since it is so new?

Hi Mannamix.

We will PM you.

Hi Thermomix,

Just wondering when the new stock of MCs are coming in. Ours has been cracked in half for over a month now, and we've been told that there is a shortage (world wide?). Our Varoma lid is also cracking, but not as bad yet.

Thanks

Hi Kirsa

Sorry to hear that. We will PM you.

Shock  Well I am not glad you are all having this issue, but I am glad I am not the only one!  Mine has now cracked completely in half and I have to use a scot towel to stop splashes.

I too hand wash everything, I dont trust a lowly dishwasher with my Thermi!

I just tried to order a new MC and they are not listed on the website as an accessory?

Is it possible to still get replacements?

Thanks.

Hi, I owned my Thermomix for about 8 weeks now and the MC has so many hairline cracks after I milled rice and cooked risotto this morning. :((  I'm not sure how it happened but I only noticed the cracks when I was about to wash it.  Would this be under warranty?  I'm still waiting to hear back from my consultant about getting a  replacement.

Hello, my thermie is almost 4 weeks old and the mc is terribly cracked. Playing phone tag with my consultant and hope she'll replace it for me.

Hi all!

I purchased my TM in April and I am onto my fifth MC.

I notice it shatters after I mill grains. Watch out also for the varoma lid. Mine started cracking from the ventilation holes.

I just keep getting them replaced by my consultant.  I heard they changed the ingredients in the plastic construction. But so long as I keep getting replacement parts, I'm happy.  Bigsmile

I'm on my third MC... They have been quick to replace each time but really it shouldn't be happening. They know the new ones with  no BPA crack, so perhaps when they give your new machine they could look at the MC and replace it  proactively. Hopefully this third one will last a little longer.

Hi all fellow TM'ers.

I received a new MC (extremely promptly) after a post on here.  And sadly, the new one has just started to develop a small crack.  The original one which I kept, has almost split in two.

I feel for Thermomix Au as I'm sure they're copping a lot of flack over this.  Will contact my consultant to organise a replacement.  Hope this gets sorted before the warranty runs out.  Bigsmile

Contact your demonstrator or thermomix direct, they will replace it Smile

Hi all every new to thermie world have had mine for last 5 weeks three of those in hospital. I ventured to make Butter Chicken last night and after hand washing  noticed the measuring cup lid looks shattered and has small cracks in it. Does anyone know what I should do?????  Thanks...

Hi just wanted to follow up from my previous post I made last week, I  haven't had a response yet, so just wondered if I am better off emailing someone from thermomix office? And if so, who is best to contact please? Thank you.

I have had my original mc replaced due to cracking, and now my replacement mc also has started cracking Aw very disappointing. Am wondering if it is possible to have another replacement sent out? Also wondering if you would like the cracked ones returned for you to inspect? Thanks

My TM is less than a month old and the MC went cloudy after the first use, began getting lines in it after the first batch of soup was made and yesterday after making soup and jams all day, its completely cracked. I have a friend who has has her TM for 4 years, puts the MC in the dishwasher even, and it still looks brand new!!!! I'll have to get a hold of my consultant for s new one it seems.

Mine is crazed and cracked too Aw

I have had my TM for 2 weeks and my MC is also cracking, although it hasn't been in the dishwasher either.  Very happy in general with the TM.  My spatula also has cracks in it too.

I am onto number 3... I havent used the new one yet...

it is disappointing that a basic part of it is so bad... I am more annoyed at my veroma lid cracking... I dont want to have to buy a new one 4 months into a new $2000 investment Aw

I bought a new MC and now that one has started to crack.  I have ground nuts in there to make Almond and Date balls.  Could it be that??  Can someone give some advice on what is going on?

I had my MC replaced after the cracking happened within a week of purchase. The replacement MC has a different word on it and does not have the same problem. The letters on the faulty MC are >SAN<.

I've had my thermomix for about 3 weeks. MC has cracked and split. Only hand washed and never been dropped. It's very disappointing given the cost of this machine. I'm waiting to hear back fom thermomix but really what a hassle having to chase up a replacement.

Hi,

I ordered a replacement a few weeks ago and it's been fine since.  I have been pretty careful with it.  It hasn't been dropped.  But, I have cooked hot meals with it for 40 minutes at a time at 100 degrees and it's been fine, although, I tip the MC now instead of leaving it in place.  I have steamed rice on Varoma with the MC lid on for 20 mins and no problems.  I had an awfully cracked lid beyond use before I ordered this new one and no problems so far.

Fingers crossed...

My replacement MC has crazed now as well.. I dont put any components in the dish washer. My veroma lid has cracks at each vent hole as well.

Its is a little disappointing considering the price you pay. I had a moulinex for over 15 years and it never showed any signs of cracking in the plastics, ever!

Yes, mine crackled within the first couple of weeks. It's never even been in the dishwasher. Now that I know this is a known fault, I shall ask my consultant for a replacement,

My MC crazed after only about a month too.  Also, my Varoma lid warped and went out of shape.  You would think for the price you pay they would use high quality plastics.  I did get new ones though. Cooking 7

I have had 2 mc's crack without ever going in the dishwasher. My consultant told me after speaking with higher authorities that the very tiny amount of BPA that used to be in the plastic has been removed making the the mc less durable. I have noticed the same in the varoma lid steam holes and had that replaced too. I am now just hanging on to my replacements and using the cracked ones until they are no longer usable as it seems like its going to be an ongoing problem  Puzzled

My lid too is badly cracked - I have just noticed that it has a small chip now as well.  IMHO it has something to do with the plastic mix?  When I first noticed it a few weeks ago - OMG OMG what I have I done!!  But I've followed all my consultants instructions to the T!!  The cracking/crazing is getting worse.  Love my Thermie though - crazed MC & all  xx

OMG, after this one comment on here about the cracking of the clear plastic components, less than a week later, brand new replacement parts arrived in the mail.  Thermomix Australia you are awesome!  Customer service 2nd to none!

I didnt have to pay for my replacement. Contact head office Smile

I too love my Thermie but have had the same problem with the MC within the first few months of use and now the clear plastic lid of the Veroma had a small crack too.  Seems to be heat related and only happening to the clear plastic components.

Kirsto 1 Your consultant should take care of this for you. if not contact Thermomix head office direct. They will send one out to you, no questions asked. Smile

Kirsto - they cost $11.  Just buy one and it will arrive asap.

I read that this was a batch issue.  So, hopefully it won't happen again.

But I still want to know - does anyone wash their hot MC straight after cooking in cool water?

I bought my thermo back in April also and reported cracking to my consultant nearly one month ago, still waiting for a replacement...it now has such a large crack is on the verge of breaking in half! Not happy  Aw

Oh I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.  Mine is so badly cracked it now has large cracks where liquid could leak out.  I just ordered another one online so it should arrive soon.  Nobody answered the question here though.  Is there a reason the MC is cracking?  I never put any part of my thermomix in a dishwasher.  But I thought perhaps it may have to do with washing a very hot MC in cold water straight after use.  I only rinse it so it doesn't stain but I figure that must be what is causing the cracks (going from hot to cold).  Anyone else think the same thing?

thanks for prompt reply also xxxxx

I received a new MC after commenting on a similar post here somewhere.  TM AU are so on the ball to send a replacement after a post on a forum.  Just great.

I'm using the old slightly cracked one for extra hot dishes and saving the new good one for mixing cold things.

Love my Thermie.  Made cappuccino the other day for 4 people, easy as and a beautiful result.

mine has fine cracks also, and i have only had mine 4 weeks !!!!

Wow!!!  Thermomix customer service is second to none!

Lunchtime today I received a call - a replacement part is coming next week!!!  The power of the forum. Wink

Now to download some more recipes!  Love my thermomix!

I had a new one sent out. So far its ok and not cracking. Contact thermo mix direct or your consultant.

Mine developed nasty hair-line fractures tonight after making EDC butter chicken.

I too assume that the recipe points out when and when not to use the MC.

Husband (materials engineer) is concerned about the MC material - worried it is not fit for purpose...  Should not be having thermal shock (which he thinks has the cracks).

He has said ok to use for now but if I dropped it, that would be the end of it.

So Thermomix - why the sudden MC issues and should I contact my consultant for a replacement?

I'm so pleased to read this !  I thought my husband must have sneaked the MC into the dishwasher !!!  My Thermomix is about 3 months old and cup is badly cracked...

Hi mine cracked too thought had used in wrong situation.. but seems to be an issue/batch.

I assume all recipes advise when or when not to use the MC

Will see Jayde about a replacement

Cheers

ian

our original MC has the crazing/cracking too, just waiting to find out about a replacement

mine has starting showing the fine cracks too, but to be honest unless it was leaking they dont really affect the MC usage.
