My measuring cup is cracking after only 2 weeks I have done a lot of cooking but bought it would last longer than that. Have followed all the recipes exactly. Not happy.
Hi, I have had two MC'S replaced by my consultant and my varoma lid. My second MC is going well, my new varoma lid has cracked as well, it's not too bad so won't bother to replace it again.
I too, have only had my thermomix for about 5 weeks and the MC cracked in the first few weeks and the bottom of it went frosty looking after the first use.
our 2nd replacement mc also has cracks and crazing again...third one this has happened to....very disappointing that it's happened again....was there a bad batch? Or is this just going to keep happening? My consultant has retired so I'm not sure who else to contact other then via this forum? Thanks guys.
I contacted my demonstrator about my crazed and cracked mc and she was straight onto organising a new one for me. Sadly while I wait for it today I dropped my cracked mc on my tiled floor and of course, a plastic chip came straight out of it. Now out of fear of losing plastic chips in our food I'll have to temporarily cook like I used to until my new one comes... *sob*. Miss my thermie already!
My consultant actually asked me if I was having issues before I even noticed, she had it replaced and explained the on going issue they were having my second one is also cracking but I still use them both, with out any drama. I love my thermie and am very happy with my consultant (Linda) as she is always an email away.
I have had my TMX for less than 3 weeks and my MC is cracking. I'm genuinely concerned that this is happening With the hefty price tag. I love my thermomix and have already had a second demo but it does raise some doubt of the longevity of the parts.
i also had an issue with my first ever recipe cooked that the bottom of my jug turned a cloudy milky white colour. I did speak to my consultant and washed it thoroughly but ever since my food keeps burning (risotto, tomato sauce, jam) has anyone had this problem? Just not sure if this is normal?
I am going to add to the discussion and say that our MC is also starting to crack and cloud after a few weeks use as well, we are a long way from a town but it seems that our consultant is the best one to contact. Otherwise the machine is amazing.
Damn this company is good lol. Same day i wrote my message and my consultant was in contact with me (should have gone through her first woops) and got a new MC on the way. Now thats customer service. Well done Thermomix and good job consultants
I bought mine Jan'13 and now have 2 bowls - i have replaced them once & now both have deep cracking and one has even completely split - does anyone know if the current ones are more durable or will i just try to find a different solution?
Can't get my lid on properly - it started 2 days ago with Error Msg - OPEN - I removed lid and re-set the seal on lid and managed to close it to start TM, but after I washed it, the next day I couldn't get it to to go back on!!
I'm on my 4th one and they cannot get it right! the consultant has been excelent and has replaced it every time. But I'm very frustrated!!! Already 4, what should I spect for the 5th????
A few weeks and ask for a new one? And continue like this until the guarantee is over???
I'm in the same boat. I purchased a Thermomix in late 2012. In May 2013 our house was destroyed by fire. The first thing I replaced was the thermomix! I recieved one of the new models with the re-badging (Thermomix instead of Vorwerk). The MC on my new one was cracking and difficult to see through within a few months. The MC of a friend of mine who purchased a Thermomix around the same time as my original one was barely scratched.
My consultant replaced it for me but the replacement looks like its heading the same way! Another noticable difference is that the butterfly seems to discolour easily. Makes me concerned that the new one I got won't be as long lasting as the previous version.
My MC has got cracks all around it and I have only had it for 5 weeks!
I thought I would come and have a look on the forum on the off chance that someone else has had the same problem and all I can say is "Wow!" Is there some design problem? Otherwise, how can so many people be going through them so fast? What should we do after the warranty runs out (are we still going to need to replace them every month)?
I've only ever handwashed my Thermomix, so I'm at a bit of a loss at what I've been doing wrong. I've only used the Varoma a couple of times, but now I can see I have to keep my eye on that, too!
So glade I have seen that we aren't alone, we haven't had our thermomix for a year and both the mc and the varoma lid have cracks.
The MC has split in two, waiting on a replacement, but that request was from before christmas. Varoma lid is showing signs of age and cracking, not wonderful quality was expecting for the price.
My MC has cracked also only after 2 months of use. I was given another one and it went the same way. The Varoma has lots of small cracks on the clear plastic lid also. I have only had my thermomix for 9 months.
My second MC has now cracked and my spatula seems to be disintigrating just below the splash guard. It was shedding black flecks into food on it's last use, which is what prompted me to look for answers here. My consultant no longer works for TMX...
The whole thing is a bit dissapointing from a machine not yet 12 months old.
My MC is now cracked as well - just over 3 weeks old, handwashed everything but now mine is very cloudy and hairline cracks around the edges. Especially noticed after grinding splices.
Machine is great - I was unaware of this issue though until I did a little searching - seems I am not the only one this is happening to.
Is it still safe to use - I am a little concerned about pieces of hard plastic making their way into the food.
Thanks for the feed back. I've decided to go ahead and order mine today. What a way to start 2014!!!!! Now just have to wait for my new baby to arrive :D
It is incredibly irritating that the MC cracks. However, the rest of the machine works perfectly and I use mine minimum twice a day everyday. It is sure to save you a ton of time. It's expanded my cooking repertoire too -- having said that I didn't really cook at all before Thermie.
