Tip

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

This is a truly fabulous cake. Today I added a teaspoon of instant coffee and the depth of flavour is amazing. Love that you can reduce the sugar for a more bitter sweet choc cake. Always a hit here

This is lovely!  I also used buttermilk, an extra egg and reduced the sugar as per the other ladies, and have definitely found my go-to chokkie cake! So easy, light and fluffy! Thanks so much for sharing!

Delicious! Light & fluffy, quick & easy to make!!  Due to lactose intolerance I used nuttelex (instead of margarine) & zymil milk. I added an extra egg & used 50g of brown sugar & 180g raw sugar. Once cooked & cooled I dusted cake with icing sugar. Thanks for posting.  This will become my regular choccie cake! Yum!

I made you cake for my sisters birthday the other day and I have to say it was the most delicious cake I've had for a very long time. Thank you for sharing this recipe it has now become a favourite in our family

This says TM5 but I just made it in the old TM31 and it fits in the bowl comfortably. The bowl would be 2/3 full and that's with an extra egg.

I used buttermilk and an extra egg and it is a good dense cake. Doesn't crumble too easily which is perfect for what I wanted it for - to cut up to make a number 4 and cover in butter icing.

this has been our family's favourite chocolate cake recipe for a generation, the only difference is we use buttermilk and butter instead of margarine (personal preference) and an extra egg. Since owning a TM this cake is even easier to whip up at a moments notice. We also love it as a dessert served straight from the oven with some poached cherries or berries and double cream, delicious.

I just made your cake and it turned out delicious! Thanks for sharing. I added shredded coconut because I had quite a bit in the cupboard that I wanted to use and it was yum but would have been perfect without too.
