I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Put coconut cream and tapioca starch into TM bowl. Cook 90*C/9 minutes/ speed 3.

    2. Rest until termpature is less than 37*C. (This takes usually about 1.5 hours. Just set the bowl outside the machine, and after about an hour stick it back on and turn the machine on. Wait until the light goes out-if the light for 37* is still on it might still be too hot. )

    3. Add maple syrup to TM bowl. stir 4 seconds/speed 3.

    4. Add the coconut yoghurt starter. Cook 37*C/3 minutes/speed 2-3.

    5. Pour the mixture into your Easiyo. Rest for 12-24 hours. then put coconut yoghurt into fridge. Let it set for a few more hours to thickn up. It will then be ready to eat-yum!

Tip

-I have only tried this using Ayam coconut cream.

-I have tried letting it set in the thermoserver but no luck. Have only had luck doing this using an Easiyo.

-I usually leave it for 24 hours. however one time I was in a rush and only left it for 8 hours and it was fine.

-you MUST wait for the 37* light to go out. If it's still on, it could be too hot, and this will kill your starter.

-I've only ever used Coyo as the starter, or else I just use three tablespoons of my most recent batch as starter.

-Don't leave out the maple syrup, it's the sugar that feeds the starter. You don't taste it at all.

-When you take the container out of the easiyo it will still be runny, you need to put it in the fridge for a few hours to cool and then it will thicken up.

-This does actaully freeze really well. I like to put it into single serves and freeze it, then I can grab it in the morning and it defrosts on the way to work.

There are lots of variations, but this is the only method I've tried and it worked so I stick with it. Good luck!

Brilliant thank you! I use the "Thermie Automated" setting overnight (only time when my Thermie is free) instead of using Easiyo. That way I know the temp is where it is supposed to be held and I get the best results.

Hi! thank you for trying my recipe and for commenting. Did you use Co-yo brand as your starter? I don't know if letting it cool for a few hours would have caused it to be more runny, although its possible that the starter might have had something happen to it if you left it for so long and then didnt work as well. I would suggest making sure to use the Coyo as starter, and also not leaving it so long. I'm assuming you used all the other ingrediants as specified in the recipe?

I made this but its quite runny. I let it set in Easiyo for approx 18 hours then in fridge for 12 Hours but seems like slightly thicker coconut cream. I let it cool for a couple of hours after step 2, would this have affected the outcome? Would like to try again if you have a suggestion for what I could do differently. Thanks for your recipe and help.

I made this yoghurt on Sunday afternoon, left it in Easiyo until Monday morning and put in fridge.  4 hours later I tried it and even though it was really creamy and delicious it wasnt thick set so put it back in fridge and had a busy day so forgot about it.  This morning (Tuesday) I decided to have some on quinoa "porridge", OMG, it was so thick and creamy! Delicious with coconut flakes and seeds!  Leaving 24 hours really helps it improve.

Thanks so much for the recipe!

    Hi Yvonne

Sorry for a delay in replying, I just saw your comment. I am suprised it didnt' work. I use the easiyo and fill it with boiling water as per the easiyo instructions, and I've also done it using a Hansell yougert maker as well with sucess. If you can message me on my facebook Thermohow page I'm happy to see what might have gone wrong. Also, did you watch the youtube video which shows step by step what to do?
