  1. Pre heat oven to 180 degrees (mine is fan forced).

Grease and line a 23cm spring form tin with baking paper.

  2. Add carob buttons to to TM bowl and chop speed 9 for 15-20 seconds, it needs to be quite fine.

  3. add dry ingredients and mix speed 5 for approx 15 seconds.  Scrape bowl to lift the carob chocolate and mix again speed 5 15 seconds.

  4. Add wet ingredients and mix speed 6 for approx 30 seconds.  scrape bowl and mix again speed 6 for 20 seconds

  5. Add to prepared tin.  Bake for approx 30 -35 mins until cake tester comes out clean.

  6. Syrup / Icing
  7. In a small saucepan on the stover add sugar, water and carob powder and bring to the boil.

Boil until reduced to a sticky syrup.  stirring ocassionally.

  8. add the carob buttons and using whisk stir though to make a chocolate syrup / icing.

  9. Putting it all together
  10. Remove cake from the oven.

while still hot, poke holes into the cake top with skewer / cake tester.

Pour over the hot syrup and allow to cool completely in the tin before removing.

alternatively the syrup will cool to almost icing like consitency and can be spread on the cooled cake.

Enjoy, but beware it is very rich but rather moorish too tmrc_emoticons.-)

Tip

Can substitute chocolate and cacao for carob, just being mindful of allergens

can also be made with wheat flour
