Ingredients
Sauce
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 carrot, roughly chopped
- 1 zucchini, roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tsp mixed herbs, dried
- 1/4 tsp mixed spice
- pinch black pepper
- 1 can Tinned tomatoes (diced)
- 130 grams tomato paste
- 2 tbsp stock paste (EDC)
- 100 grams water
- 700 grams Beef mince

Place onion, carrot, zucchini, garlic and mixed herbs into the mixing bowl and chop 5 sec/speed 7.
Add mixed spice, pepper, tinned tomatoes, tomato paste, stock paste and water to the mixing bowl.
Put the steaming basket in place and put mince into the steaming basket.
Cook for 15 min/Varoma/Speed 4. Break up mince with spatula.
Cook for a further 15 min/Varoma/Speed 4. Break up mince with spatula every 5 min to make sure that mince is cooked through thoroughly.
If required, cook for another five minutes, otherwise put mince in the Thermoserver and pour sauce over the top. Let sit for five minutes then serve with pasta.
Method
Tip
If you prefer a finer bolognaise sauce, mince can be put into the mixing bowl rather than the steaming basket.
If you have more mince than 700g and it doesn't fit in the basket properly, you can fry the extra and put it in the Thermoserver until the sauce in the Thermomix is complete and then mix it all together. If doubling the recipe then all mince should be done in the fry pan, however it should sit for a while to let all the flavour from the sauce soak into the mince as it can be a bit bland.

I've made this a few times now and we love it. I tried to use 1kg mince but it was too much and took much longer to cook, so now I just use 750g.
tonight I'm going to tweak it and try it as a lasagne
