Ingredients

Chocolate Tiffin

  • 50 grams Hazlenuts
  • 4 dried apricots
  • 2 tablespoons mini marshmallows
  • 180 grams tea biscuits (plain)
  • 110 grams Butter, cubed
  • 30 grams sugar
  • 10 grams cocoa powder
  • 50 grams golden syrup
  • 225 grams baking chocolate, 50% dark, 50% milk
  • Chocolate strandsor 100s and 1000s or melted white chocolate, optional

Recipe's preparation

    Chocolate Tiffin
  1. Base Layer:

    Chop Hazlenuts - 5sec/sp6. Place in a separate bowl

    Chop Dried Apricots - 10 sec/sp6. Add to bowl with Hazlenuts

    Chop Biscuits - 8 sec/sp 6. Add to above bowl.

    Add mini marshmallows to above mix.

     

    Place butter, sugar, cocoa powder and syrup into TMX bowl - 2min/60 degrees / sp2 (stop after 1 min and scrape down the sides)

    Add the hazlenut, apricot, marshmallow, biscuit mix into TMX bowl and combine with Butter mix - 10sec/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /sp3. Scrape down sides and mix again - 5 sec/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /spd2.

    Pour mix into a 7" square tin and press down with spatula until compact and smooth. Place in fridge to set while you make the top layer.

    Clean and dry the TMX bowl thoroughly. 

    Mill 225g Chocolate 5sec/sp8. Then melt 1min 30 sec/45degrees/sp1. Scrape down sides and repeat for 2 min / 37degrees/sp2 (or until completely melted).

    Pour over biscuit base and decorate as desired with 100s and 1000s or chocolate strands etc.

    Allow to set in the fridge for and hour (at least) then slice as required.

     

Tip

You can use raisins instead of dried apricots or nuts (or leave them out completely).

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
