  • 2 oranges, quatered
  • 3 eggs
  • 110g almonds
  • 1 cup Self Raising Flour
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 125g soften butter, at room temperature

Recipe's preparation

    Orange & Almond Cake
  1.  

    Pre-heat oven to 180°C

    2.  Grease a cake tin with either butter or oil.

    3.  Place the almonds into the TM bowl and mill for 14 seconds on speed 9.

    4.  Remove and place into another bowl.

    5.  Grind the raw sugar into caster sugar for 3 seconds on speed 9.

    6.  Remove and place into a separate bowl.

    7.  Wash oranges and cut them into quarters. Place the oranges in TM bowl. 8.  Chop the oranges for 7 seconds on speed 9.

    9.  Add all the remaining ingredients - caster sugar, butter, eggs, flour and almond meal. Mix for 8 - 12 seconds at speed 7.

    10.  Add the mixture into a cake tin and bake for approximately 1 hour.

    11.  Let the cake cool down and dust with icing sugar before serving.

    Lovely tasty cake. Added 1/4 tsp bicarb soda to lift the cake. Delicious and moist tea cake.

    Perfect! I just peeled one orange as I read the reviews it was too bitter. 

    Also used half coconut oil, half butter and worked perfectly! 

    Took a bit longer in the oven but the waiting time worth it!!!    Cooking 7

    This is definitely quick and easy. Very moist. Mine was a bit bitter as well - I might peel the oranges next time and add back the peel without the pith to still get that lovely orangey flavor. But a lovely easy recipe - will definitely make again.

    I tried it but the cake was too bitter. I guess next time I have to peel the orange, take the white bit off before chopping it.

    I made this the other day with my daughter, we love it! My daughter then made a chocolate icing, and we now call it Jaffa Cake!

    This worked well. I tried it with Kumquats - two handfulls just sliced them in two and increased the sugar to 1.25 cups to counter the bitterness of the Kumquats.  Also done it with mandarins works just fine
