Recipe's preparation

  1. Describe the preparation steps of your recipe

    1. Place milk, honey and vanilla in bowl. Cook for 30 minutes, 90ºC, speed 3.
    1. Remove lid and allow to cool to 37ºC. This can take 60-90 minutes. To check the temperature, place the bowl in the cradle. Your TM5 should read 37º or no temperature registering. This is important as to not kill the culture in the yoghurt are about to add to the mix.
    1. Once cooled, remove the skin that has formed during the cooling process with a fork.
    1. Go to ‘Automated Recipes’, then ‘Plain Yogurt’. Skip through the steps until it reads ‘add 120g plain yoghurt’. Add the yoghurt in now. Skip the milk powder and sugar steps, until the screen reads ‘add 100g cream’. Add the cream to the bowl and hit next.
    1. Start the automated progress. This will take 8 hours to complete so I recommend doing this overnight.
    1. Once complete, pour the yoghurt into containers and place in the fridge. It will thicken up a little more in the fridge.

Tip

This is not a super thick pot set yoghurt. If you like your yoghurt really thick, I would recommend transfering to a thermoserver once complete for a further 4 hours.

I have made a short video on how I make this yoghurt which can be viewed here >> //www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmnvJLcTa2o

    Recipe is created for
    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
