I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
Place onion, garlic and carrots into TM bowl and chop 3 seconds, speed 7. Scrape down bowl.
Add oil to bowl and saute for 4 minutes, 100 degrees, speed 1, MC OFF.
Add mince to bowl, trying not to break it up too much as you put it in to keep the texture, and cook for 5 minutes, 100 degrees, reverse, spoon speed (slowest speed), MC OFF.
Add stock, Worcestershire, tomato and bbq sauces, water, herbs, salt and pepper to bowl and cook for 10 minutes, 100 degrees, reverse, spoon speed (slowest speed), MC ON.
Add peas and gravy powder and cook for 5 minutes, 100 degrees, reverse, spoon speed (slowest speed), MC ON.
Transfer the cooked mince into a baking dish and allow to cool completely before topping with mashed potatoes and a sprinkle of grated cheese.
Bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until cheese is golden on top.
Tip
I used a double quantity of my No Fail Mashed Potato recipe to top the pie. The recipe with full instructions and tips can be found here //www.recipecommunity.com.au/side-dishes-recipes/no-fail-mashed-potato/211919

Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Made this today and it smelt great.
Nice easy recipe with lots of flavour
Yum 😋. Really good recipe & used your mashed potatoes on top. Perfect
sarahs92: Hey i think it is due to the fluidity of the food when hot or quite warm. It does spread a lot easier when cool.

Definitely going to try, but why does the mince mixture need to be completely cooled before adding mash on top and being placed into the oven?
I made this last night, it was the best cottage pie ever!
I did make a couple of small changes,
added sliced mushrooms and half a tin of crushed tomatos to the sauce.
I used approx 700g mince and cooked it in the simmering basket so that it stayed nice and chunky.
20 mins / varoma / rev sp2
Give the meat a stir and break it up
Cook again 20 mins / varoma / rev sp2
When mince is cooked add it to mixing bowl, stir in peas and gravy powder and cook for for a further 5 mins / 100 deg / rev 2
Absolute winner, husband said it's the best one he's ever had!
Edited to add, definitely a 5 star recipe. Not sure why it won't let me give it 5 stars. 🤷♀️
What is the recommended size of baking dish for the 30-minute bake time and what is the oven temperature please?
The best cottage pie ever!
Love this recipe and the mince holds it's texture!
Family really enjoyed it and very quick and easy. Thank you.
