Recipe's preparation

    Gingerbread
  1. Preheat oven 200C.

Add butter, sugar and golden syrup to TM bowl and melt for 1:30 minutes, 80C on speed 2. Scrape down sides of bowl. Cook for further 45 secs, 80C, speed 2.

Add flour, bicarb soda and ground ginger to TM bowl and combine for 30 secs on speed 5. Check mixture, may need further 20secs, speed 5, to form a sift dough.

Roll mixture out onto baking paper, about 1cm thick. Cut out desired shapes for gingerbread house. Place in oven on baking paper for 6-12 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces. Allow to cool fully before building house.

Tip

Make sure pieces are not too close together on baking paper as the will spread a little in oven.

Cooking time will vary depending on your oven.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

i added some mixed spice for a bit more bite. dough was quite crumbly even after mixing longer. i think all its needs is an egg to bind it all together, which i will try next time as the ratio if everything else seemed perfect

Perfect recipe, worked amazing for our very first gingerbread house. Ginger bread had just the right amount of flavour not overpowering and the kids loved it. Will do next Christmas guaranteed !!! Thanks Natalie.Goff tmrc_emoticons.)

Extremely crumbly, no way to roll out to make slabs for the house, not enough dough by far. I managed to squish dough together to make cookies. 40g ginger seems excessive. I used 25g and the bite was perfect for my kids.
