  • 2 oranges, zested and juiced
  • 185 g Butter
  • 200 g raw sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 160 g self-raising flour, gluten free if needed
  • 115 g almond meal, see notes
  • 275 g yoghurt

Recipe's preparation

    Orange Syrup Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC and grease a 22cm round cake tin.

  2. Place half the orange zest and the sugar into mixing bowl and grind 10 sec/sp 10.

  3. Add butter, mix 30 sec/sp 5. Set sp 5 again and through mixing bowl lid, add eggs one-by-one until well combined.

  4. Add flour, almond meal and yoghurt and mix 10 sec/sp 6.5. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl and repeat.

  5. Transfer to cake tin and bake 45 minutes, until golden and cooked through.

  6. Slice remaining zest into shreds.
    Pour juice over cake, allowing it to soak in and then decorate with zest.

Tip

To make your own almond meal in the thermomix, do so before step 2. Add 115g of almonds to the thermomix bowl and mill for 10 sec/sp 7 or until desired consistency is achieved. Set aside in a seperate bowl until ready to use.

Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
