Simple Chocolate Sheet Cake

  • 225 grams Butter
  • 300 grams sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 375 grams self-raising flour
  • 25 grams cocoa powder
  • 210 grams Milk
  • 25 grams dessicated coconut, Optional
  • 2 level tsp vanilla essence

Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Cream butter and sugar 30 seconds, speed 4.5. Scrape down sides of bowl.
  2. 2. Add eggs and mix 30 seconds, speed 4.5. Scrape down sides of bowl. Mix a further 10 seconds, speed 4.5, if required.
  3. 3. Add remaining ingredients. Mix 45 seconds, speed 4.5. Scrape down sides of bowl and mix a further 30 seconds, speed 4.5.
  4. 4. Pour cake batter into a large (approx. 22cm x 33cm) lamington/sheet cake tin. Bake in oven at 175-180 degrees for 30-40 minutes, or until an inserted skewer is removed clean.
  5. 5. Remove from baking tray and allow to cool on cooling rack. Once completely cooled, ice or decorate as desired.
