Ingredients

Dough

  • 380 grams Milk
  • 120 grams water
  • 150 grams Butter
  • 85 grams sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 12 grams dried instant yeast
  • 1010 grams flour, cake
  • 1 level tsp salt

Syrup

  • 500 g sugar
  • 1000 g water
  • 1 cardamom pod
  • 1 cinnamon quill

Recipe's preparation

    Syrup
  1. Add all the ingredients to TM. Dissolve the sugar by heating for 5 mins /100 speed 3

    Then continue boiling for 10 mins/varoma/speed 3

    Place in a small pot and heat and thicken when ready to syrup koeksisters.

  3. Add all ingredients until the vanilla essence Closed lid"Closed lid" Blend"Blend" 2 min 40* spd 3

    Add Eggs 2 10 sec spd 3 Blend"Blend"

    Add yeast 12 g 10 sec spd 3 Blend"Blend"

    Add 1010g flour 20 sec speed 5 Blend"Blend"

    knead 2 min, transfer to a bowl greased with oil and leave to double in size for 1 hour




    make 40 gram balls and twist let it rest and then fry off.

  7. Kettle"Kettle" Deep fry in batches of 6 in hot oil for 5–7 minutes, or until dark golden brown. Drain them for a few seconds on paper towe.

    When you have finished fried the whole batch. Heat your syrup, until slightly thickened. Syrup should coat spoon. Dunk your Koeksisters in syrup and place on a plate and garnish with coconut all over.

Tip

Syrup should be a bit sticky and can be kept for months.
