I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
1. Combine cumin, corriander, garlic, onion and paprika (with optional chili) in a bowl and rub into trimmed steaks and sliced onions. Set aside to marinate if wanted, but not needed!
2. Place half the onions into bottom tray of Varoma and the other half of the onions, together with the steaks, into the top Varoma tray. Place 500ml water in jug and cook on Varoma for 12-14 mins, speed 2, depending on how you like your meat cooked.
3. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a frypan on the stovetop (med-high setting) to sear meat quickly when cooked if wanted and to caramelise onions and red capsicum. Remove seared steaks from frypan and slice, while continuing to caramelise onions and capsicum (no stirring needed).
4. When sliced, return steak strips to pan to combine with onion/capsicum mix or else place aside to put on top of vegetables.

This is my favourite thermos recipe to date. Our local Mexican restaurant is home of my partners favourite fajitas. It is $38 per person. I made this recipe exactly as per recipe except with fresh capsicum + a sticky sauce made of sweet soy, honey, crushed garlic and BBQ sauce which I tossed everything in at the final step. My partner was absolutely amazed that we got it virtually identical on the first try. This fed 3 people for around $30 which if we had of all eaten out would have been well over $100. The beef was tender and well flavoured, the veg was soft and overall I cannot fault this recipe. That and being a Mum of 3 a meal you can make in less than 20 minutes is a winner. Looking forward to cooking this in my regular rotation
This is a lovely recipe. First time cooking steak in the varoma and it turned out more than perfect!
Thank you. Both my kids ate this and enjoyed. Will do again. It even encouraged me to make my own tortillas.
This was soooooo yummy!!! 2 adults and 2 kids all enjoyed it and there was enough for left overs. The flavour was just incredible. I added some salt to the seasoning too and used fresh capsicum with the onion. Served in wraps with, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cheese, coriander, salsa and sour cream. Amazing!!!! Will definitely make again
Cooked these on Saturday and they were an absolute Hit... Thank you for an amazing recipe
People say you can't cook a steak in the Thermomix, but I'll definitely be steaming it first from now on after trying this recipe. So tender and delicious. The only problem was, I rely on the Thermomix so much, I only discovered I didn't own a frying pan when I went looking in the cupboard to sear the steaks and caramelise the onion! My sandwich press did the job
yum, never tried doing steak this way. Great flavour and tender, no need to buy packet mix again, thank you
Absolutely delicious and so easy to make. Thank you for the recipe.
