Ingredients
Sweet and Sour Meatballs
- 4 slice bread, Crusts removed
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 2 tsp tomato sauce
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- to taste pepper, ground
- 500 g mince, Beef or pork
- 1 onion, In quarters
- 35 g Flour, Plain
- 340 g pineapple pieces, Canned (good quality)
- 60 g white vinegar
- 2 tbsp Soft brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 celery stalks, Diced approx 1cm pieces
- 1 green capsicum, Diced approx 1cm pieces

- Meatballs:
1. Add onion to mixing bowl- chop 4 seconds/speed 5 MC on
2. Add bread, broken into pieces, followed by milk, sauces, salt and pepper - mix 10 seconds/speed 3 MC on
3. Add mince, broken up - mix 20 seconds/speed 3.5 MC on
4. Ensure all properly mixed before rolling into balls (approx 2.5cm diameter)
5. Roll balls in flour and then shallow fry in oil until brown
Sweet & Sour Sauce:
1. Drain pineapple juice into bowl then make up to 295g with water
2. Add vinegar and soy sauce
3. Remove small amount of sauce from bowl to make a paste with cornflour then add paste back into bowl
4. Add sugar to bowl
5. Cook 10minutes/90 degrees/speed 3 until thick (or thicken mode 100 degrees) MC on
6. Add celery and capsicum- cook 5minutes/90 degrees/ Speed 1 MC on
Mix cooked meatballs with sauce in a thermoserver or large bowl and serve with rice.
Method
Tip
For a healthier option the meatballs can be baked in the oven at 180 degrees. Cooking time will vary.
