Time was nowhere near long enough to cook the egg. Had to put the filling in the thermoserver, then put boiling water in the jug with the egg back on top to cook. I dont know how you managed to make this work?!

Hmmm.... The omlette filling is stunning and will use on toast etc.  but cooking omelettes in the varoma is not for me.  I much prefer using the frying pan.

This was extremely tasty ONCE the egg cooked. Like a lot of people I found it took significantly longer than the time stated for the eggs to steam. If I make it again I will let the water heat completely before I put the Varoma on top. I also wasn't sure about the texture. It was very smooth and looked rubbery but when we ate it it was actually quite light. As you can see from the picture I steamed some Asparagus in the base of the Varoma and toasted some of the bread I had made the night before to go with the Omelette....over all I enjoyed the eating even if the cooking was a little frustrating.

After receiving my Thermomix last night, I tried an omlette this morning - a bit disasterous!  I have one further question after reading all the wise tips - do I leave the lid on the top of the tray?

If the thermie isn't piping hot from cooking the filling, when you go to add the eggs, the eggs will not cook. The varoma takes far longer than 5 min from cold to cook eggs up top.

When you thoroughly wet the baking paper, you then scrunch it into a ball before spreading it out on the varoma tray; this stops the holes from being blocked so the steam can now come through to cook the omelette.  tmrc_emoticons.)

make sure you aren't blocking all the vents in the top varoma tray, otherwise it just wont cook.... tmrc_emoticons.)

tmrc_emoticons.) Made this for brekky this morning. Missed the key 'in the Varoma tray top' mention and wasn't till 10 minutes (2x 5 minute sessions) that I decided to move the egg mixture to the tray. A little firmer than I like my omlette but following the instructions from the beginning next time will produce a better result. Thanks for a quick and easy brekky idea! (and my first varoma use!!)
