Did you follow the recipe as listed, aside from halving the brandy & sugar and not using the jamsetter, and it was still thick? We were given 5kgs of fresh plump cherries at work and everyone is still away on holidays, so I thought about making some jam to give them so they havent totally missed out. I'd hate to waste them though if the jam didnt work and wasnt set nice & thick.
Love love love this jam! I used the TM to pit the cherries and removed most of the juices so the jam was yummy and thick. I also halved the brandy and sugar and didn't use the setting jam as I didn't have any. Delish! Thanks for sharing
This tastes great but is it ment to set or be runny because mines runny?
The house smelt fantastic whilst this was cooking. A tip for lazy people like me, I used the Thermomix to pit the cherries for me first.
- 5-10 Seconds "Counter-clockwise operation" speed 5. Do in batches so that you aren't covering up the blades
- Tip out onto a sieve over a bowl (don't waste any of that lovely juice!) and you can easily sift through with your fingers to remove the seeds.
- If you miss a seed, don't panic they float to the top at the end of the first cooking process.
OMG! this tastes as good as store brought Jam . :O almost like a gel , and i couldnt stop eating it . mmmmm next time i make a good Gravy , for osso bucco or Lamb shanks , im going to add this !
