Recipe's preparation

    Mixed Berry Jam
  1. Core apple and chop roughly (leave skin on). Add to bowl

    Hull strawberries and chop roughly. Add to bowl. Add remaining berries to bowl

    Add lemon juice and sugar to bowl

    Place simmering basket on lid to reduce splatter

    Cook 25 minutes, Varoma temp, speed 1.5

    Note:

    Check how well jam is set by placing 1 tsp of jam on a plate and putting it in the freezer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, if you run your finger through the jam, it should stay separate. If too runny, cook at varoma for 5 minutes - repeat until correct consistency is reached.
    I used a combination of Strawberries, Blackberries and Raspberries. Due to the fruits used, there were quite a few seeds, but I don't mind it that way!
    If the berries have not broken down by the time the cooking is over, place MC on, and slowly increase the speed to 4 for 5 seconds or as long as needed.

Tip

If you add the sugar last, you shouldn't get problems with the jam catching on the bottom of the bowl.
Granny Smith or Pink Lady apples work well. Others may also work, but I haven't tried them. If you try another variety, be sure to let everyone know how it worked in the comments!
This quantity makes just under 1 standard jam jar (mine 3/4 filled a Cottee's 500g jam jar)

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities.     suzienoname: sorry I didn't see your question earlier. I have not tried it with a sugar substitute, so I couldn't really say, sorry! If you tried it, please let us know how it went!

    Betstrath: the addition of chia seeds will have thickened it up a little further. Perhaps either reduce or omit the apple (which is used for the pectin it provides for thickening) if using chia seeds. I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure!

    I used 2 red apples and frozen mixed berries with 2 tbsp of lemon juice. The rest of the recipe I followed. This was super easy to make and absolutely DELICIOUS

    This is a firm jam. I cooked for 25 mins. I used a gala apple, and 2 biggish plums in place of the blackberries. Also added 1 Tspn of chia seeds as I read it helps setting. Don't think I needed them, but it added some omega 3! Also added a teaspoon of vanilla. This jam uses much less sugar than normal but is perfect for me.
