Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat Oven to 150C.

    Place raw almonds on a lined baking tray, bake 15 minutes.

    Place Tamari + Sugar in a bowl, dissolve sugar.

    Place roasted almonds in the Tamari marinade, soak for 5-10 minutes.

    Remove marianted almonds & place back on lined baking tray, bake 12 minutes.

    Remove from oven, stir/turn almonds & bake again 12 minutes.

    Allow to cool.

    Prepare Nut Butter:

    Weigh 250g Tamari almonds into Thermomix Bowl. Mill 20 seconds speed 10, scrape down the sides of the bowl. Mill again if you want a finer consistency.

    Add 10-20g Rice Bran oil or nut oil if you prefer, mix 10 seconds speed 6.

    If the mix is a little dry then add a small amount of oil & mix again for a few seconds, speed 4-6.

Tip

You can use a nut oil if you prefer that to Rice Bran Oil.

Keep the left over Tamari roasted almonds for a snack on their own or to make another batch of tamari nut nutter when you are in a hurry!

You can blend the Tamari almonds with raw almonds before you mill them if you want a less strong tamari flavour in the nut butter. Try 75% Tamari almonds & 25% raw almonds Or a 50:50 blend.

You can adjust the flavour with a little added sugar if you like.

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
