Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 170'C. Line baking tray with baking paper.

Place dates, coconut, oats, almonds and cacao powder into TM31 bowl - Speed 9 until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Add butter and squeeze orange juice onto TM lid with MC in place (to catch any pip or seeds) -  Speed 7 until combined.

Roll tablespoon quantities into balls and place on baking tray. Press down with a fork.

Bake for approx 10-15 mins or until cooked.

Allow to rest on the baking tray for approx 5 mins before transferring to cooling rack.

These should keep for about 2 weeks in an airtight container if they last that long!

I just made these now and they are delicious! I might be naughty and add choc chips next time, but these are amazing without and the kids also love them. Thank you!

I've been trying to bake better treats for my kids and found this little bit of research on dates. Everything in moderation. Yes, these cookies are not "sugar free" so to speak, but definately a better option than using sugar. Have a read if you are interested.....

There are 63gm of sugar per 100g dates.  I have a child on a medical diet & therefore have a heightened awareness of hidden sugar.  This recipe is sadly nowhere near sugar free.   It is perhaps more correctly "processed"  sugar free, yet still very high in sugar.  Sorry to be a killjoy.

These are a great alternative if you are looking to cut down on your sugar intake and still have a good tasting biscuit.  Sorry forgot to add the star
