Ingredients
Fennel, Garlic Cough Syrup - nana’s winter concoction
- Whole head of garlic
- 250g boiling water
- 2 tbsp fennel seed
- 250g apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups raw sugar

- 1 whole head of garlic peeled and chopped - 3 sec / speed 8
Pour 250g boiling water over garlic and pour into a container covered overnight - Next day
Add 2 TBSP fennel seed to bowl
Add 250g apple cider vinegar
Place simmering basket on top and boil until reduced to half - 15 min / Varoma / speed 1
Add the garlic mixture to the bowl
Add 2 cups of raw sugar to the bowl
Heat slowly through until sugar dissolves - 7 min / Varoma / slowest speed
Keep in screw top container in the fridge and use as needed
Tip
Smells the house out but very effective in combatting colds/coughs

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
