I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
- 1. Add both flours and 125g caster sugar (keep the other 55g for later) to TM and mix speed 5 for 6 seconds to combine.
2. Add 225g cubed butter and combine speed 7 for 8 seconds or until mixture is crumbly.
3. Tip mixture out onto bench and bring together with a light knead, then cut in half and wrap both halves in plastic and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
4. Open tinned pie apples and tip into a bowl (not TM bowl).
5. Add 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, along with 55g of caster sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla. Toss gently as to not break up the apples completely, but you do want some to mush up.
6. Get one of your doughs out of the fridge and roll it out on a thermomat or lightly flour your benchtop or baking paper. Roll it out so it will fit a slice tin.
7. Lay this dough into the bottom of your slice tin. Fill in any gaps with bits of dough and cut any extra bits of dough off.
8. Place your pie apple mixture on top and smooth it all down.
9. Roll your second lot of dough out and place this on top.
10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until getting a little browned around the edges.
11. Sprinkle extra caster sugar over the top of the slice and let cool on a cooling rack.
12. Cover with cling film and place in the fridge until cold and set.
13. Slice up into portions.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius

Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
