Ingredients

Apples

  • 12 granny smith apples, Peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon spice

Crumble

  • 75 g Butter, chilled and cubed
  • 175 g Self Raising Flour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon cinnamon
  • 110 g Demerara sugar or brown sugar
  • 110 g Whole almonds with skin

Recipe's preparation

    Apples
  1. Place peeled and sliced apples in to veroma and sprinkle with cinnamon.  Steam at Veroma for 17 minutes speed 2.

    When cooked place in baking dish.

    Alternatively if you are pressed for time you can skip this step and use an 800g tin of Apple pie fruit, place in baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon.

     

  2. Crumble
  3. Place all ingredients in the bowl.  Set thermomix to closed lid position and press the turbo button 3 times.

     

    Sprinkle evenly over apples and bake in preheated oven at 200 for 20-25 minutes.

     

    Serve with thermomix vanilla custard or ice cream or cream

    Added walnuts and oats. Used 70g sugar. Also added frozen raspberries when apple was cooked. Cooked apple on stovetop with a bit of sugar and a squeeze of orange and lime juice till only just soft. Very easy crumble.

    Yummy!! I added oats and coconut to the crumble mixture, and used apples, pears and strawberries. Cooked the apples for the 17 minutes and just added the pears and strawberries half way through the cooking time. delicious and so easy!!

    Delicious! I actually did the apples on the stove as it was quicker, but will try varoma next time. Topping was awesome...amd only took a few seconds. Not ages rubbing flour into butter like I did pre thermie. new family favourite dessert.

    This is the best Apple Crumble I've ever made.  The almonds added the wow factor in this recipe.  One of my favourites now. Thanks for great recipe.
