Recipe's preparation

    Crunchies
  1. DIRECTIONS

    Preheat oven to 180°

Melt margarine 3 min - 60 degrees on speed 2 or until butter has melted. Add the golden syrup and vanilla -  mix 1 min speed 2 and leave aside.

In a large mixing bowl sift in the flour.

Add the sugar, oats and coconut stir well until evenly mixed.

Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the margarine/syrup mixture. Use hands to make sure all is incorporated evenly.

Press mixture into a sprayed 9 x 13 inch baking pan (press down firmly). Dough will be about a half inch thick.

Bake 20 to 30 minutes until golden brown and depending on your oven so watch carefully. Edges may burn.

Remove from oven and using a pizza cutter cut into 24 bars (If you going to add melted chocolate for topping - don't cut into squares.  Add chocolate first). Gently remove and place on a wire rack until cooled.   Store in an airtight container - freezes well.

I put melted chocolate on top before cutting into squares.

Break chocolate into pieces and add 60 grams cream (more if needed) melt 4 min on 50° - spread 2.

Spread over Crunchies and cut into quarters once set.

Tip

No need for the chocolate coating - I just felt like doing something different and it worked really well!  They are so good!  They simular to an Anzac biscuit but much yummier!

ENJOY!!!

    Recipe is created for
    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
