Ingredients

Family Chocolate Cake

  • 120 g Butter, softened
  • 280 g self-raising flour
  • 20 g Dutch cocoa powder
  • 220 g sugar raw
  • 190 g Milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs

Icing

  • 180 g icing sugar
  • 20 g Dutch cocoa powder
  • 20 g Butter, softened
  • 2 level tbsp hot water

Recipe's preparation

    Cake
  1. Add all cake ingredients to the Closed lid"Closed lid" .
  2. Mix 15 secs/speed 5. Scrape down bowl and mix 10 sec/speed 5.
  3. Pour into lined 20 x 30 cm lamington tin and bake in a preheated 180ºC fan forced oven for 30 minutes or until cake springs back when pressed gently in the centre.
  4. Icing
  5. Mix all ingredients for 10 secs/speed 4.
    Scrape and repeat if needed.

Tip

I've converted this old family favourite for the thermomix.

It makes great lamingtons. Just omit the cocoa powder and replace with plain flour, then cut into portions before freezing and covering with chocolate icing and coconut while frozen.

Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
