Recipe's preparation

    To prepare the cake:
  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees (160 degrees fan forced) and line a 10 inch round cake tin, you will need to line the sides aswell. This is a large cake.

  2. Add water, caster sugar, butter, cocoa and bicarb soda to the bowl. 5 mins, 70 degrees, spd 2. Make sure butter is completely melted. The mix then needs to be left to cool down for approx 1/2hr (down to about 37 degrees)

  3. Add flour to the bowl, mix 10 sec, spd 4. Leave Thermomix on spd 4 and slowly add the eggs. Mix for another 20 sec to ensure eggs are completely combined.

  4. Pour mixture into prepared cake tin. Place in oven for approx 1 hour, or until cooked (depending on your cake tin).

Tip

This cake is our family go to for all occasions. It is lovely with Ganache or decorated with Fondant. It isn't overly sweet either despite the amount of sugar.
