Ingredients

German Chocolate Cake

  • 320 g sugar
  • 280 g flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 60 g cocoa powder
  • 250 g Milk
  • 160 g warm water
  • 125 g Butter
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 eggs

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease and line a 30cm cake tin.
  2. Into the bowl weigh 320g sugar, 280g flour, 3 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda and 60g of cocoa.

    Mix for 10 seconds/speed 4.
  3. Pour into a spare bowl and set aside.
  4. Into the mixing bowl weigh 250g of milk, 160g of water and 125g of butter cut into cubes.
  5. Mix 2 min/70 degrees/speed 2.
  6. Allow to cool approx 5 mins.
  7. Add in 2 tsp of white vinegar and 2 eggs.
  8. Mix for 10 seconds/speed 2.
  9. Add in all the dry ingredients and mix for 5 seconds/speed 4.
  10. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix for another 5 seconds/ speed 4.
  11. Pour batter into lined cake tin and bake for 30-45 minutes.

    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
