Ingredients
Cake
- 150 g all-purpose flour
- 130 g raw sugar
- 8 large egg yolks
- 1 large whole egg
- 30 g thicken cream
- 220 g unsalted butter
- 1.5 tbsp lemon zest
- 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 30 g poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon vanilla essence

1. Preheat the oven to 170c
2. Place Raw sugar and Lemon Zest for 10 seconds, Speed 10
3. Add lemon and butter and mix for 15 seconds, Speed 5
4. Add egg and egg yolk, beating for 1minute, Speed 6 until the mixture is pale yellow and fluffy. (Add egg yolk one at a time through the top)
5. Add flour over the egg mixture and fold in along with the salt with the spatula.
6. Mix batter for 30 seconds, Speed 5, adding cream and poppy seeds in the last 15 seconds.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and cover tightly with the buttered foil.
8. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the cake pulls away from the side of the pan.
9. Remove the foil and let the cake cool in the pan on a rack for 15 minutes.
Tip
Great way to use up all the left over egg yolks laying around. I generally freeze my egg yolks with some sugar, defrost them a day before I am ready to bake some sweets.
The recipe can be use to make muffins, just place batter into muffin tins and bake for 15mins.

For a beginner I was very disappointed with this recipe, I believe one crucial ingredient was omitted from this recipe which is 'Baking Powder', which was a major dissapointment as I had to throw the whole cake out, all 8 eggs worth. It turned out more like a pan cake rather than a cake...
Also, I don't understand what I was to do with the foil and it didn't tell me when to add vanilla essence?
Sorry I can't recommend, sounded great to start with but was a huge flop.
