I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line 20cm springform cake tin.
2. Place orange and butter into mixing bowl and mix 7 sec/speed 8.
3. Add remaining ingredients and combine 20 sec/"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 4.
4. Pour into 20cm round cake tin and bake for 50-60 minutes.
5. Whilst the cake is in the oven, put water and sugar into the TM bowl. Cook 6 minutes/100C/speed 3.
6. Put orange (or other citrus fruit) into TM bowl with sugar syrup.
7. Combine on 30 sec/Speed 6.
8. As soon as you remove the cake from the oven, prick small holes in the top of the cake with a fork. This will give the sugar syrup holes so it can soak into the cake. Pour half of the sugar syrup over the hot cake. Pour through a sieve if you do not want the citrus flesh on top of the cake.
9. Serve with cream, double cream or icecream. Heat each piece in the microwave for 15 seconds if not fresh from the oven.

Tip
The cake can be made with half the quantity of sugar.
You need to make the whole quantity of syrup, but only use half of it.

Warning do not use Thermomix with hot syrup 30 second speed 6 as it splatters everywhere. Need increase speed very slow
This cake is so easy and tasty! I topped mine with some crushed pistachios. Added a dash of milk as suggested above too!
Has anyone used oil in stead of butter, if so, how much oil
I made this tonight and wow it is devine.
I entered this recipe minus the syrup I made orange icing instead into our local show on the weekend and I got a champion ribbon the CWA lady who judged it said its the best orange cake she has ever tried and she couldnt fault a thing wrong with it. I didn't add as much sugar and I cooked it at a lower temp. This cake also made the local prime news
Thankyou
Nice and easy to make. Lots of extra syrup, but didnt mind that
Lovely light cake. Love that there's no need to zest the orange or boil. I used 160 g of sugar in mixture and bit less in the syrup tooand still tastes great. perfect mixture of tang and sweetness. Thank you!
Cheers nomi
We made this yesterday and it is absolutely delicious. So moist. The only change we made was to add 30gm of poppyseeds to the mix. Will certainly make this again.
This was absolutely super! I made this today for the first time. It turned out absolutely amazing... The syrup agree was too much, I only used half... Will make lesser quantity next time..
Thanks for the feedback.
I have adjusted the quantities for the sugar syrup, and re-formatted the recipe slightly so it is s little clearer. I'm glad you enjoyed it, so hoepfully this will make it more enoyable to make (and eat). Enjoy
