Ingredients

Cake "Batter"

  • 100 g rolled oats
  • 100 g carrots, in chunks
  • 30 g high omega oil, like flax or chia
  • 20 g Maple syrup, or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Extra Special Pops

  • CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
  • chia seeds, to coat
  • molten chocolate, to coat
  • cream cheese icing, to coat

Recipe's preparation

    Cake "Batter"
  1. Blitz the oats and carrots for 2 seconds on speed 6.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients.

  3. Mix for 10 seconds on speed 4 then increase to 6 for 2-3 seconds.

  4. Transfer to a container or bowl and leave in the fridge or bench for 10 minutes. You can shape them right away, but letting them rest gives it time for the mix to become less sticky. 

  5. Carrot Cake Pops
  6. Use a tablespoon or a small ice-cream scoop to get consistent amounts of mix.

  7. Roll into balls.

  8. Pack as part of a balanced lunch. For smaller children 1 or 2 is enough, for older kids up to 3.

  9. If you are having them at home or for a party then pop blunt skewers into them to make them cake pops. 

  10. For a really decadent treat you can coat them in chocolate for a party. But we like the un-iced version just fine. 

  11. Extra Special Pops
  12. Melt chocolate chips according to the EDC instructions, or make your favorite cream cheese frosting. Or roll in chia seeds as pictured. 

Tip

You can easily double the recipe. But I prefer to make one batch of these and one of my "raw cookie dough" bites at the same time.

    Absolutely delish! 3 batches in 3 days - toilet training daughter even choosing these over m&m's as her reward. Says it all really!

    Quick, easy, full of heathy fats! I used coconut oil, added a tbs of cacao and rolled in cacao too. Put in pairs in freezer bags and threw in the freezer. Perfect for throwing in to lunch boxes!

    Unfortunately no-one in our family was a fan of these (2 adults and a 3yr old). Maybe I'll try the bars that BakedWithLove suggested as I like the idea and the ingredients, just the flavour wasn't quite right for us.

    Hi Lishstewart, did you put 30g of coconut oil in with yours? I substituted the flaxseed oil for coconut too and it tasted terrible tmrc_emoticons.~ good at first, but terrible aftertaste, any advice for a Thermomix newbie?

    I made a double batch today for my weekly Bliss Balls, but have to say I really didnt like the flavour - the flaxseed oil was too overpowering, and I only used half the required amount and used coconut oil for the remainder. So in an effort to try salvage it (I can't stand the thought of wasting all the ingredients!), I added an egg and put it in a slice tin, baked it at 180 for about 15 mins and voila - it was delicious! Now I have carrot bars instead of Bliss Balls! Not raw, but it will do. Oh, and I only used 1/3 of the oats, and replaced the rest with Almonds & Sunflower seeds.

    These were really easy to make and form into balls. Went down well with the adults but kids weren't that fussed. I will make them again, they are a novelty without being sugary and buttery.
