Recipe's preparation

    Fresh Pomegranate Juice
  1. Deseed pomegranates. Discard any pith/skin and any mouldy seeds.

  2. Place seeds in tmx bowl. 12s/reverse/speed 6/MC on. Repeat.

  3. Place cheese cloth over medium bowl. Scrape the pulp into the cheese cloth and strain juice into the mixing bowl. Squeeze to remove all juice.

  4. Rinse tmx bowl making sure no seeds or pulp remain.

  5. Pomegranate Syrup
  6. Return 450g of juice to tmx bowl with 100 to 150g sugar depending how sweet you like it. Cook 20min/100/speed 2.5/MC off. Once it starts to boil, lower temp to 95.

  7. Cook for a further 50min/95/speed 2.5/MC off. Check consistency during cooking [remember the syrup will thicken as it cools] and adjust cooking time accordingly.

  8. Pour in a hot sterilised jar or bottle and seal. Once cool, store in a cool dark place until opened. Refridgerate after opening.

Tip

It is important the Measuring Cup is off during cooking the syrup and nothing is over the hole or the syrup won't reduce. The excess steam needs to be able to escape.

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Pomegranates are in season, what to do with them 🤔 Off to the RC we go. This is great, I used all the recommended sugar so it would hopefully preserve a bit longer. Tastes fantastic 👍🏻

This is a great recipe. I had only half the quantity of pomegrantates and juice - so halved the sugar but needed to keep the temperatures as specified in both stages, the same time for the first stage but shortened the second stage by about 7 mins. After decanting into a small jar I added half a cup of water to the bowl and Turbo'd a few times - then enjoyed a delicious warm drink. Smile
