Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease a round cake tin (26-28cm) and set aside.

  2. With a sharp knife, make parallel incisions on the outside of each Apple quarter, cutting down but taking care not to cut completely through. Set Apple quarters aside.

  3. If using Coconut Oil, add oil to bowl and melt 2mins/37degrees/speed 2

If using Macadamia oil, add to mixing bowl

  4. Add eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl and mix 20 sec/speed 6. Pour mixture into cake tin and spread evenly with spatula. Place reserved Apple quarters on top, one next to the other, with incisions facing up.

  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a wooden skewer inserted in centre of cake comes out clean. Allow cake to col in tin for approx 10 minutes before transferring to a serving plate.

Tip

For nut free and school friendly, use Coconut Oil.

Substitute the apples for other fruits, such as pear, peaches, plums or apricots.

    Recipe is created for
    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
