Ingredients

  • 175 grams Butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 330 grams caster sugar
  • 225 grams Self Raising Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinammon
  • 200 grams buttermilk
  • 50 gram cocoa powder

Recipe's preparation

  1. Beat butter and sugar on spd 6 for  around 1 minute until pale and creamy.

  2. Add eggs one at a time with one tbsp flour, mix on spd 6 for 20 seconds for each egg, stop and scrape down inside of bowl with spatula.

  3. Beat in buttermilk, vanilla and cinnamon on spd 5 for 1 min

  4. Add cocoa and mix speed 5 for 30 secs.

  5. pour into greased springform tin and cook for an hour at 180

Tip

This is a very moist cake that does not require any icing however if desired a chocolate buttercream can be used as a topping for extra decadence!!

    As a fairly new user of the TM ..it would have been handy to know how to successfully cream butter and sugar. It was a bit of a mess before I googled  the method and found out this way. Also you have missed the step where you add all of the flour!    I cooked them as muffins for 25 mins on 180.  I also used spelt flour and only 200 g sugar. They ended up ok after all that!

    I used 275g of sugar and added some chopped chocolate pieces and some bottled sour cherries at the end, reverse speed 2 until combined. I ommitted the cinnamon. Serve with a spoonfull of thick cream....absolutely delicious!  tmrc_emoticons.)
