I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
Make the too easy chocolate cake in the THermomix Everyday Cookbook. But, don’t make one cake divide it up between 6 large muffin tins. Or if you wanted you could make mini ones for more reindeer.
I halved the cooking time, adjust depending on the size you make.
While your cakes are baking make your fondant. Follow the fondant recipe by lushcook (thanks!) but don’t put in any colouring.
Once your cake is cooked allow to cool completely while you prepare your reindeer faces.
Once you have your lovely warm fondant roll out the whites of the eyes first. Make small balls then flatten and set aside on baking paper.
Dust a clean surface with a little corn flour or extra icing sugar to roll out your icing.
Next colour a small amount of the icing with red and make the noses by making large balls and rolling in the red glitter sugar. Set aside on the baking paper.
Next make colour the rest of your fondant with cocoa powder to a light brown and cut circles out for your reindeers snout (where the nose and mouth are). Set aside on the baking paper.
Add more cocoa and cut out disks for your reindeers faces. Set aside on the baking paper.
Start assembling by using a little water to stick down the whites of the eyes, the snouts and the noses onto the face circles.
Make the ears by cutting small disks and pinching, then using a little water stick to your reindeers faces.
Set aside a small amount of fondant to colour black for your eyes and mouthsand then use the rest to make the antlers.
Last add black tahini or blackstrap molasses to the fondant you set aside to colour it black (I used both). Then make the blacks of the eyes and mouths and attach.
By now the cupcakes should be cool and your fondant will still be soft. Use a large flat spatular to transfer onto your cupcakes. Don’t worry if there are some broken ears or antlers, just stick them back on!
Voila your reindeer are ready and merry!
Bake and Decorate
Tip
Make them all look different.
Have the eyes facing different directions, the noses different sizes and the antlers different designs – this makes them more interesting and also covers up that they don’t look exactly the same if you make any mistakes.
