Ingredients

French pear cake

  • 4 pears peeled and cored
  • 125 grams flour plain
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 1 pod vanilla pod
  • 5 grams Yeast Sachet
  • 3 eggs
  • 125 grams Butter melted
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1 pinch salt

Recipe's preparation

    French pear cake
  1. Pre heat oven 180 oC.

    Put cubed butter in Thermomix. 40 sec, speed 2, 70 oC to melt butter. Set aside.

    In Thermomix, put flour, sugar. Add yeast . Scrap vanilla pod with spoon and add in Thermomix. Mix 40 sec, speed 4.

    Add eggs, mix 20 sec, speed 2 to 4 gradually, add melted butter through lid, mixing for another 10 sec, then add cream, milk and salt through lid. Mix a further 20 sec.

    Peel and core pears, cut in 2 cms pieces. Add to mix in Thermomix 15 sec, speed 3-4 on Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" .

    Pour mixture in greased cake tin.

    Put in oven for 40 min. Check color golden on top.

    Serve warm or cold with ice cream or chocolate sauce.

     

Tip

You can choose to have 2 apples and 2 pears but i prefer the soft texture of the pear.

A lighter version would be to use 4 tbsp of milk in stead of 2 tbsp of cream and 2 tbsp of milk.

For a GF version i used  Orgran GF plain flour.

    Tasty! However, mine turned out like a pudding. The kids loved it though! I baked it for 1.5hr. I think the pears were too soft and ended up minced throughout the mixture which contributed to the pudding texture. I also think another 25g of flour may help! Will bake it again!

    This was delicious!! I used about 150g of flour and 40min was the perfect cooking time. My pears may have been a little soft as they weren't the big 'chunks' as expected, but I could have not mixed them in on speed 4 or for as long.

    I will definitly be making this again! tmrc_emoticons.)

    Really yummy dessert. Was a bit worried I had made some mistake in the recipe as butter seemed to bubble up around the edges but when I turned it out there was no problems. Quite a dense batter type cake but lovely warm with Icecream! Added blueberries as well that I had that needed to be used up.

    Yum. Great winter dessert.  Quantities provided were fine in my oven. I warmed the water and yeast together first (37degC 1min speed 1) before adding flour. I also I used 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (will use vanilla bean on guests not family to save $). Thanks for posting!  tmrc_emoticons.)

    Very easy but agree needs more flour or less liquid, I needed to bake a further 15 mins, also grease well because despite using non stick pan and spray oil I had problems getting it out.  if your pears are very ripe suggest slowly stir in Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" for less time as mine disappeared into mix. none of this stopped it being devoured tmrc_emoticons.)     This cake was delicious and very easy to make... I might just add another 25g of flour next time or reduce the butter very slightly... 

    I used the 4tbsp milk instead of 2 cream and 2 milk (as that is what I ad on hand) and it turned out great tmrc_emoticons.)
