Deliciously moist and perfectly chocolatey! I made these yesterday as cupcakes for hubby's birthday, they turned out fantastic. I did halve the oil as suggested in the comments (vegetable oil because that was in the pantry) and made 32 good sized cupcakes, half were frozen for school lunches and the rest were devoured. Thanks for a great recipe!

Wow thanks for all of your lovely comments about my cake recipe, it really is a beauty. I used to make, decorate and sell cakes. This was my go to no fail chocolate cake recipe and I had lots of very happy customer. I only ever used canola oil when making this cake and can understand olive oil could give it a strange taste. I'm interested to know that you can still make it with 1/2 the oil And will give this a go next time. This recipe also freezes very well. Thank you.

Hi there, I halved the oil and used rice bran oil! silky smooth with no obvious flavour. A really lovely cake, great recipe, that is huge! Thanks!

    Delicious Regards,

Made this recipe with my 7yr old. So easy! So quick! Made 24 muffins and a massive loaf cake! Will be freezing it all for lunches for school.

Only used half the oil and turned out perfect and moist!! Any more oil and it would have taken over the flavour. Used olive oil. May be different with other oil types. Will be my go to recipe for a basic choc cake! Thanks

easy to put together.  But i found that all you could taste with oil.  I will try half the oil and see how I go tmrc_emoticons.-)

    This is an awesome cake!!!!!

Omg the only problem with this is that it takes a while to cook. I was starving and it just seemed like forever lol

I made these for my kids end of year party was very worried as the liquid was very runny and have always had thick cake mix, but omg the kids loved them. It made all 32  and they were gone in less than 2 minutes, they are now my go to cake mix.
