I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
- Place salt into the bowl and mix 5 sec/speed 10
- Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add water and cream of tartar and cook 5 mins/60°C/speed 3 then leave to cool for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and oil (vegetable, grapeseed, coconut etc are all fine), 1-2 drops of food colouring and and knead"Dough mode" for 1 minute, OR mix 60sec/speed 4.
- Check the texture. If it's too sticky, add some more flour and "Dough mode" for an additional 30 secs OR mix30sec/speed 4.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 months.
Tip
Glitter and Essential Oils - Add a sprinkle of glitter and 3-4 drops of essential oil at the same time as the food colouring.
Doubling - This recipe can easily be doubled. Simply add some additional kneading time.
Multicolours - if wanting different coloured playdough, don't add the food colouring to step 4. Continue with step 4 and 5 as instructed with the uncoloured dough and then split the dough into portions, add each portion back to the bowl, add the colouring and "Dough mode" until fully mixed in.
Happy, creative playing and if you have given my recipe a go, I'd love for you to take a minute and rate it. Thanks very much.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. -

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
