I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
Add all ingredients to Thermomix mixing bowl.
Mix for 20 seconds / speed 3.
Use spatula to scoop paste out and enjoy!
Store in a glass jar in the fridge.
Tip
You could use regular tahini paste, however the black tahini paste gives this spread the appearance of vegemite.
I used:
Mayvers Black Tahini Paste
Pureharvest Tamari
Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and Nutritional Yeast Seasoning
These can all be found at health food stores.

Comments
I only made a little bit using black sesame seeds to make the Tahini.
When tasting the Tahini I thought I would dislike the imitation Vegemite.
What a surprise!
I enjoyed the imitation very much and spread it on a cracker biscuit more than I would Vegemite.
To me it does not taste like vegemite.
I enjoyed the flavour of the imitation very much and think it has its own distinctive flavour.
Will definitely make again but will use normal coloured sesame seeds as I do not think you need the black sesame seeds
Highly recommend
The best on sourdough with avocado 🥑 Just had to make a triple batch this time round! Thanks for a great recipe.
How long would this last in the fridge? Thank you
Thank you for sharing, this is great! I couldn’t find black tahini either so made my own with the black sesame seeds and then threw in the other ingredients and voila! Vegemite 😁 I love Vegemite, but recently started an additive/preservative free lifestyle and I’m so happy to be able to have ‘Vegemite’ again 🤗
I have made about 12 batches: Although the thermomix is great to make this in, I have found a more user friendly way to whip up a batch. I make my vegemite in a wide mouth small jar that I store the finished product in...
I place a clean jar on top of the lid of the thermomix, then weigh in the ingredients in this order. 1st a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. 2nd, I weigh in the tamari sauce. 3rd a tablespoon of yeast flakes, then stir with a teaspoon. Lastly I weigh in the black Tahini. Stir for about a minute and it thickens up...
I was wasting so much trying to get it all out of the thermomix bowl, and was time comsuming, and had to then wash out the bowl. (I have tank water)...
One last hint: Oil forms on top of the jar of Tahini, so from time to time, when I think about it, I turn the jar of Tahini upside down while in the pantry, so oil doesnt settle on top...Tahini then pours out easily.
Most delicious and nutritious and so quick!
Yum! I’ve been planning to make this for ages and finally got around to it. I didn’t have black tahini and used Mayver’s unhulled tahini in its place and it still tastes amazing. This would be great for gifts I’m thinking.
I love this recipe, and In my opinion runs rings around the commercial processed stuff. Quick and easy to make. I never have to worry how long it lasts in the fridge, as this size batch is gone within a week to 10 days. Eveyone should try it.
I don't actually like Vegemite but made this for my family ... And I loved it! Like the other comments, I couldn't find black tahini paste so made some with black sesame seeds. However, using normal tahini paste is fine if you don't mind it not being black.
Fabulous recipe! So easy.
I send it to preschool with carrots as dippers and its a big hit!
I just use black sesame seeds and grind them up before adding the other ingredients as I couldn't find the paste.
