Ingredients

Cake

  • 200 g SR flour
  • 50 g cocoa
  • 120 g Butter, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or essence
  • 250 g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 160 g water

Icing

  • 200 g icing sugar
  • 20 g cocoa
  • 30 g Butter
  • 25 g water

Recipe's preparation

    Chocolate Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 180C.  Grease and line cake tin.

     

     

  2. Place all ingredients into TM bowl and mix for 5 seconds, speed 4.  Scrape down side of TM bowl.

     
  3. Insert butterfly and mix for 15 seconds, speed 4.

     
  4. Pour batter into cake tin and bake until cake is cooked (about 50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean).

  5. Stand in tin for about 10 minutes, turn onto wire rack.  Cool completely and ice with chocolate icing.

     

  6. Chocolate Icing
  7. Place all ingredients into TM bowl, mix for 15 seconds, speed 4.

Tip

I find using the butterfly gives this cake a ligher texture.
