I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

  1. Insert butterfly, add softened butter, vanilla and sugar to beat 3.5mins/ Speed 4/ MC on.

Add eggs gradually from the top opening lid, 30secs/ Speed 4.

Alternate flour, baking powder and milk from the top opening lid for 40secs /speed 2.

Mix the chocolate marble ingredients into a separate bowl. Take out 250g of the batter, and mix in the chocolate mixture till well combined.

Spoon the two mixtures alternately into the lined/buttered cake tin. Use a skewer or fork to swirl it around the mixture to make marble effect. Tap the tin gently to remove any air bubbles.

Bake in a preheated oven at 170c for 45-50 mins or until the skewer inserted comes out clean.

Tip

I can't find cake flour so I just make my own!

Here's how:
Measure 1 cup of plain flour and remove 2 tablespoons to replace with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Sift it (twice if possible) and you have now made your own cake flour!
Cornstarch contains less gluten than flour, so it’s a wonderful tenderizing ingredient to help make cake flour.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
