I have made this twice now. Cake is nice, and very similar to the box cake.

I doubled the recipe and that gave me a tall (3inch) of a 8inch round cake baked for about 1hr. I also did a single batch that gave me a tall (3inch) by 6 inch cake.

I've been trying to find a Betty Crocker Devils Food cake dupe for a while....this comes close, except I think maybe the salt is a typo? 1/2 a teaspoon is enough if any....I used salted butter and left the salt out all together.

Otherwise, a nice light chocolatey cake.

this was sooo good.  i had been craving a nice chocolate cake for months and months.  this fit the bill perfectly.  so moist and chocolately.  I served it with no icing or ganache and just some cream on the side.

Each time i opened the container I carried it in, the delicious waft of chocolately goodness came out...

Mine didn't rise, much either, I think next time i'll try a slightly smaller 8 inch pan.

    thanks for sharing this recipe

Really yummy and moist.  Wish it was a little bit higher though that way I could have a bigger slice without it looking like Ive just cut and put half the cake on my plate Big Smile
